Basic Standards for All Estimators

The American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) has been certifying construction estimators since 1976. While there are other certification programs in the construction industry, the ASPE program is the only one that tests the construction estimator’s construction knowledge and estimating skills.

Recognition of the Certified Professional Estimator

NEW...... "ASPE Certificate in Construction Estimating"

ASPE Now offers Estimating Proficiency Exam

In the beginning there is the estimate. The American Society of Professional Estimators recognizes the Certified Professional Estimator as an individual trained in the estimating practices within the construction industry. The CPE has the experience and integrity to estimate construction projects professionally within the industry standards.

ASPE is an organization dedicated to the advancement of estimating education and professionalism within the construction industry. The CPE is a member in good standing dedicated to preparing certified estimates in accordance with generally accepted professional estimated practices. The CPE uses their best judgment based upon the limitations on the scope of completeness of the work product.

The CPE is truly a “Risk Manager” with the responsibility of estimating a positive outcome of a project. The knowledge and experiences vary. There are discipline specific certifications in addition to the required general knowledge of the CPE.

The ASPE Education Board announced on September 1st, 2005, a new recognition for the professional construction estimator called "Certificate in Construction Estimating".

a) The estimating courses offered by ASPE are considered state of the art and ideal for people with limited time available for "brick and mortar" classes.

b) For candidates not looking for college credits, the ASPE program saves them money.

c) Candidates who complete five online courses are eligible to apply for the certificate.

Meeting the need of today’s construction industry with increasing standardization, pre-qualification requirements and a growing shortage of able professionals, ASPE announces the development of a new estimating proficiency exam, the EP2. The exam was developed by the ASPE Certification Board* and administered by the Society’s Standards Board.
